New Delhi. Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari has made serious allegations against the state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress government. BJP leader Adhikari claimed that the West Bengal government is completely bankrupt. He said that schemes like Rupashree and Samyati have been closed and Lakshmi Bhandar has also been closed in many areas. Between 2014 and 2023, the central government provided approximately Rs 30,000 crore to the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Yet, Mamata Banerjee is now giving only Rs 1 lakh per person to people to build houses by misusing the disaster management fund.
The West Bengal government has gone completely bankrupt. Schemes like Rupashree and Samabyathi have been shut down, and Lakshmir Bhandar has also stopped functioning in several areas.

Suvendu Adhikari said each beneficiary should get at least Rs 3 lakh and the state government should publish a transparent list showing how the Rs 30,000 crore central fund has actually been spent. He said that the Union Home Ministry has allocated more than Rs 3,000 crore to West Bengal for disaster management, yet the Trinamool Congress government has unethically misused that amount and handed it over to the panchayats. A part of this amount is now being illegally and unconstitutionally embezzled under a scheme called Banglar Bari.
The BJP leader said that if this disaster relief fund had been properly used for the people of North Bengal, Darjeeling and hilly areas, then West Bengal would not have been facing such a dire situation today. The Trinamool Congress government is committing another act of corruption and financial embezzlement, which is being fully supported by Mamata Banerjee herself. The official alleged that after the loot of central funds, many TMC leaders are now embezzling funds while running the state government.
