New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Tribal Pride Day program organized in Dediapada, Gujarat to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. Paying tribute to Lord Birsa Munda, Modi said, today the occasion of Tribal Pride Day gives us an opportunity to remember the injustice that was done to crores of our tribal brothers and sisters. The Congress, which ruled the country for six decades, had left the tribals to their fate. In tribal areas, there was problem of malnutrition, health security, lack of education and there was no trace of connectivity. In a way, this lack had become the identity of the tribal areas and the Congress governments remained idle.

PM said, tribal welfare has been the top priority of BJP. We should always walk with the resolve that we will end the injustice being done to the tribals and bring development to them. The tribal society is so old that it is also associated with Lord Ram, but those who ruled for 6 decades did not know that something needed to be done for the development of such a large tribal society.

Modi said that when Atal Bihari Vajpayee became Prime Minister and BJP formed the government for the first time, a separate ministry for tribal society was formed for the first time in the country. But after Atal ji’s government, Congress again neglected this ministry for 10 years. In 2013, Congress made a scheme of a few thousand rupees for tribal welfare. After our government came to power, we increased the budget of the Tribal Ministry and took up the cause of development of tribals. We launch many schemes of the Central Government only after reaching out to the tribal dominated states and the deprived sections. You will remember that in 2018, Ayushman Yojana was started for free treatment and this scheme was started from the tribal areas of Jharkhand.
