Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced financial assistance of Rs 1200 crore for Uttarakhand after a meeting in Dehradun on Thursday, reviewing relief and rehabilitation measures caused by the damage caused by flood situation in the state.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need for a multi -faceted approach to help the entire region and its people. According to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), it will include measures such as reconstruction of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, repair of national highways, reconstruction of schools, providing relief through PMNRF and distributing mini kits for livestock.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Rural, financial assistance will be provided to the eligible families whose houses have been damaged due to floods under the “Special Project” presented by the Government of Uttarakhand for reconstruction of houses in rural areas. Under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme Rural, financial assistance will be provided to those eligible families under the “Special Project” presented by the Uttarakhand government for reconstruction of houses in rural areas, whose houses have been damaged due to floods.
The release said that the Central Government has already sent inter-ministerial central parties to visit Uttarakhand to assess the damage and further assistance will be considered based on their detailed report. Prime Minister Modi expressed its condolences to the families of the people who lost their lives in the natural disaster and said that the central government will work with the state governments and provide all possible help in this difficult time.
