'Kashmir's problems echoed at the Red Fort': Mehbooba Mufti blames Center after Delhi blasts

Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (JKPDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti launched a scathing attack on the central government, alleging that the November 10 Red Fort blast case in the national capital deepens the feeling of insecurity across the country and shows the failure of the Centre’s policies in Jammu and Kashmir.

Twelve people had lost their lives and many others were injured in the blast at the Red Fort in the national capital on November 10.

Addressing a working group meeting in Srinagar on November 16, the PDP chief said, “You (the central government) told the world that everything is fine in Kashmir, but Kashmir’s troubles are echoing in front of the Red Fort.”

He said, “You had promised to make Jammu and Kashmir safe, but instead of fulfilling that promise, your policies have made Delhi unsafe. I don’t know how many people in the central government are true nationalists. If an educated youth, a doctor, kills himself and others by strapping RDX on his body, it means there is no security in the country. You can get votes by playing Hindu-Muslim politics, but in which direction is the country going?”

He further alleged that divisive politics has overshadowed national security. He asked, “We can get votes by playing Hindu-Muslim politics, but in which direction is the country going?”

He said, “I don’t know whether the people of Delhi understand this or do they think that the more Hindu-Muslim divide there is, the more bloodshed there will be, the more polarization there will be in the country, and the more voters they will get? I think they should think again. The country is bigger than the chair.”

He said that “somewhere that poisonous environment is also responsible for the youth of Kashmir going on the dangerous path.”

Mufti said, “I want to say again to the youth doing this that what you are doing is wrong in every way. It is not only dangerous for you, but it is also dangerous for your family, Jammu and Kashmir and the entire country. You are taking such a big risk because you are ruining the lives of your loved ones. The lives of many innocent people are at stake. This has been hurting me a lot for the last few days.”

Earlier, Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said that the (terrorist) module is being busted and praised the security forces for recovering incriminating material after arresting the terrorists.

Singh told reporters, “Six people have been arrested and the investigation is on. All the accused will not be spared. Our government will expose the accused at every level… We cannot comment on when and how this RDX was brought. It could have been lying here for years. The investigation is on. The module is being busted. The drugs are being recovered. It is the success of our agencies that such a huge amount of incriminating material has been seized and the terrorists have been arrested.” Was arrested.”

A team of Faridabad Crime Branch on Sunday brought a youth to Alfalfa University as part of the ongoing verification exercise. Faridabad is linked to the terrorist module. Investigation is still going on in the matter.

Earlier, intelligence agencies revealed a fund trail of Rs 20 lakh linked to three doctors, Umar, Muzammil and Shaheen. Intelligence sources said the amount is suspected to be routed through a Hawala network by a Jaish-e-Mohammed handler.

About Rs 3 lakh is believed to have been spent on purchasing 26 quintals of NPK fertilizer, a nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium-based chemical compound used in agriculture, which is also capable of producing the explosives used in the blast.

Officials further said that tension had allegedly arisen between Dr. Umar-un-Nabi and Dr. Shaheen over the management of funds. Sources said a vital clue was found from Muzammil, which helped investigators understand the financial links behind the conspiracy.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police sources confirmed that the three cartridges recovered from the spot, two live and one empty, were of 9 mm calibre, which is a firearm banned for civilians and used by security forces.

A senior officer said that despite the recovery of cartridges, no pistol or any part of it was found at the spot.

“These cartridges are generally available only to the armed forces or people with special permission,” police said.

According to sources, no pistol or any part of it was found at the spot. That is, the cartridges were found, but the weapon used to fire them has not been found yet. The officer said they are now trying to find out how these cartridges came to be there, and whether the suspect had these cartridges.
