New Delhi, November 17 (IANS). Even today, many myths and misconceptions are spread in our society regarding epilepsy. People view it as a scary or incurable disease, whereas the truth is that epilepsy is a treatable neurological condition. The problem is not in the disease, but in the thinking of the people.

Many times it even comes to the point of breaking the marriage relationship. This behavior is not only wrong but also puts unnecessary mental pressure on the patient and family. This ignorance of the society becomes the biggest challenge for the people related to epilepsy.

If we understand epilepsy in a simple way, it is a condition in which the electrical activity of the brain gets disturbed. When this happens, the patient may have frequent seizures. This problem does not occur only at one age. It can happen to anyone, from children to the elderly. There can be many reasons for this, such as head injury, brain infection, genetic reasons or any other neurological problem.

During a seizure, the patient’s body may become uncontrollable, sometimes confusion or slow thinking occurs and sometimes the person may suddenly feel fear or strange sensations.

It is not difficult to control the problem of epilepsy. Just need to improve lifestyle and maintain some precautions.

Epilepsy is not difficult to control. Just regular routine and precautions are necessary. First of all, it is very important to take medicines on time. Skipping or missing medication increases the risk of seizures. Getting good sleep is also very important, as lack of sleep directly affects the brain and increases the risk of seizures. You should avoid drinking coffee, energy drinks or excessive soda, as these act as triggers for many people.

Apart from this, it is important to keep the body hydrated. Lack of water causes stress, which can affect the brain. Bright flashing or flickering lights can also trigger seizures in children, so they should be avoided.
