Nadella’s visit comes at a time when Microsoft is rapidly expanding into the cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) markets.
During his last visit in January this year, Nadella had announced an investment of $3 billion in India to build cloud and AI infrastructure and support skill development programs.
At the time, he said that India was becoming a global leader in AI innovation and Microsoft wanted to help make the country “AI-first”.
During this time, Microsoft has set a target of training 1 crore more Indians in essential AI skills by 2030.
Not only Microsoft, its arch rival technology company Google is also continuously investing in India.
Google has recently announced the creation of a state-of-the-art AI Hub in Visakhapatnam, India. The company plans to invest about $15 billion in this in the next five years.
Google AI Hub in Visakhapatnam will be developed in collaboration with AdaniConnex, an Adani Group company, which includes AI data center infrastructure. This will add significant computing capacity to help drive generational change in India’s AI capabilities.
