Congress MP Imran Masood on Tuesday courted controversy by calling the main suspect in Delhi’s Red Fort blast case, Dr Omar Un Nabi, “a misguided youth”. 15 people were killed in this explosion.
Speaking to ANI, the Congress MP, reacting to Omar’s viral video, said that the words of these misguided people cannot present the true picture of Islam. In the video, Omar is defending a suicide attack.
Masood said, “These are misguided people. The words of these misguided people cannot present the picture of Islam.”
Condemning Omar’s remarks, the Congress MP said, “I do not agree at all with the video that has come out (of accused Omar Un Nabi). Because it does not present the true picture of Islam. Suicide is not permissible under any circumstances in Islam. If you are committing suicide, killing innocent people along with yourself, then it is not the picture of Islam, nor is it the path of Islam.”
He further said that Islam teaches us to love our country and by doing such actions they are working against the government. Masood stressed, “Our religion teaches us to love our country. Therefore by doing and saying such things you are against the country. This has nothing to do with Islam and these are misguided people. The words of these misguided people cannot present the picture of Islam.”
His comments have drawn sharp criticism from BJP leaders, with party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala accusing Masood of acting like a “propagator of terrorism”. Shehzad Poonawala said “In a video, the mastermind of the Delhi blasts is justifying suicide bombings. On the other hand, like a spin doctor of terror, Congress MP Imran Masood says these people are misguided youth. An entire ecosystem is based on ‘national policy'”. Gives priority to ‘vote bank policy’, ever since it has started protecting terrorists, be it Mehbooba Mufti, Imran Masood and Anuma Acharya. It seems that in the name of appeasement, this is not a new thing; Congress is always on the side of terrorists.
Former Uttar Pradesh minister and BJP leader Mohsin Raza said, “Congress has played a big role in misleading these misguided people who are doing such acts, who have created terrorist organizations in India. Since Congress is also misguided, and it has also been responsible for misleading such educated people. I want to ask those Congress members who are making such statements and are seen supporting terrorists. This has always been the character of Congress: Student Islamic Who founded the Movement of India and during whose tenure?…”.
On the recent statements of Congress leaders Imran Masood and Hussain Dalwai, BJP leader Gopal Krishna Aggarwal said, “Congress gives intellectual protection to such people (terrorists). People of terrorist organizations who do such activities, educated doctors get all the facilities. So how are these people misguided? Imran Masood should tell what did these people not get from this country? Be it Imran Masood, Farooq Abdullah or Mehbooba Mufti, they give intellectual patronage to such people.”
BJP leader Aparna Yadav said that there is directionlessness in Congress itself. He said, “It is surprising that he is saying this. The Prime Minister has clearly said that India will not tolerate terrorism at all. Congress should refrain from making such statements as it may impact the youth of the country.”
The death toll in the Delhi car blast case has risen to 15 after the death of two injured, officials confirmed on Monday. According to Delhi Police, the total number of dead has reached 15, including three with partial limbs. One victim died yesterday, while another person named Vinay Pathak died today.
Investigators probing the terror module allegedly linked to Dr Omar Un Nabi have found evidence of an organized internal structure, encrypted communication channels and coordinated movement of weapons. Security agencies have identified Dr Omar Un Nabi as the person who set an explosives-laden car in flames in the Red Fort blast on November 10.
