Ranchi. The police have arrested a medical student from Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh for threatening to kill Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari over phone. The arrested youth has been identified as Jayant Kumar Singh, a resident of Ganapatnagar Colony of Sarnath police station area. The police have also recovered a mobile phone used to threaten him from him.
An official of Bokaro Steel City Police Station said that the Health Minister had lodged an FIR on Monday. The minister had told that he had received several calls from the same number on Sunday night. The caller threatened the attack, accusing Rohingya of protecting.
During the investigation, it was found that the mobile SIM which has been used to threaten is registered in the name of Naina Singh of Uttar Pradesh. Jayant was identified as accused from surveillance. The Jharkhand police, who reached Sarnath in search of him, raided his house for two days with the help of local police, but he kept avoiding the arrest.
On Thursday, when Jayant was trying to run to Ghazipur on a bike, on the basis of mobile location, the police stopped the roadways bus near Oudihar and stopped the way and siege and arrested him.
Initial interrogation of the police has revealed that Jayant has completed MBBS studies and was preparing to enter the master’s degree course in medical. One of his houses is also in Shillong, Meghalaya.
According to the complaint of Health Minister Irfan Ansari, the caller had threatened him directly, calling him abusive. The young man had said, “You just wait, you will blow you very soon.” Police is currently interrogating the accused.
