West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday blamed the Center for the disruption in flights across the country and said passengers can also approach court over the issue.

Banerjee told reporters at the Kolkata airport before leaving for an official visit to North Bengal that the situation had worsened due to the Centre’s lack of planning.

“People are facing immense difficulties due to non-availability of flights,” he alleged. I believe that this situation has arisen entirely due to lack of planning. This is a disaster. The Center is responsible for this.

“They should have made alternative arrangements well in advance,” he said. I think passengers can also go to court in this matter.

Banerjee said that after Indigo canceled flights, passengers are being asked to travel by other transport modes.

He said, “How is this possible? A journey of two hours by plane takes 24 to 36 hours by train. And then you have to get tickets and reservations in advance. Overall, this is causing huge inconvenience to the passengers.

He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Center remains busy in elections instead of paying attention to public welfare.

Banerjee said, “The Center always thinks about elections; We think about people. Therefore, we are extremely concerned about the problems of the passengers.

For the last few days, passengers are facing a lot of problems at airports across the country. IndiGo, which operates around 2,300 flights daily, is canceling hundreds of flights as it faces difficulty in arranging adequate crew.

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has provided several relaxations to the crisis-hit airline to help it normalize its operations.
