Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday said the inspiration from Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and the vision of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will guide the party’s government in the state.
HyderabadAfter digitally unveiling the statues of ‘Telangana Talli’ (Mother Telangana) at the district collector offices, Revanth Reddy said that the people of this state will always celebrate the birthday of Sonia Gandhi, who fulfilled the decades-old dream of formation of Telangana and the ‘Telangana Talli’ statue will be unveiled every year on December 9.
Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi turned 79 on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the state government has decided to celebrate December 9 as ‘Telangana Talli’ inauguration day, as it was on this day in 2009 that the then Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram had announced to initiate the process of formation of Telangana state separate from Andhra Pradesh. He reminded that the state government had installed the statue of Mother Telangana in the Secretariat on December 9 last year itself.
Reddy said it is a matter of great joy for him, his cabinet colleagues and other Congress leaders that December 9 is also Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. He said, “Sonia Gandhi’s inspiration and Manmohan Singh’s vision will always be applicable in our welfare and development programmes, governance system and our hearts.”
Reddy said Sonia Gandhi fulfilled the aspiration of the people of Telangana for state formation despite challenges, as promised during the Manmohan Singh-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime.
