Navjot Sidhu’s wife and Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu indicated that he would return to active politics if Congress declares Sidhu as the chief ministerial face of the party.
However, he also pointed to “infighting” within the Punjab unit of Congress and claimed that there are already five leaders aspiring for the post of chief minister and they will not allow Sidhu to come forward.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu said that she does not have money to give to any party, but she can turn Punjab into a “golden state”.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on the alleged deteriorating law and order situation in the state and other issues, she said in response to a question that her husband is “deeply connected” to Congress and party leader Priyanka Gandhi.
When asked whether Sidhu would rejoin the BJP if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gives him this responsibility, she said, “I cannot make any comment on his behalf in this regard.”
