Prime Minister Narendra Modi left Delhi on Monday on a three-nation tour, starting with a visit to Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein.

He will be in Jordan from 15 to 16 December, during which he will hold talks with King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein to review the entire gamut of India-Jordan relations and exchange views on regional developments.

The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, a milestone that is expected to provide new impetus to bilateral relations. The Prime Minister will also meet members of the Indian community in Jordan.

Before leaving for the visit today, Prime Minister Modi said in a post on

In the second leg of his tour, Prime Minister Modi will visit Ethiopia from 16 to 17 December. This will be his first visit to Ethiopia. He will hold detailed discussions on all aspects of bilateral relations with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, is also the headquarters of the African Union.

Talking about his visit to Ethiopia, Prime Minister Modi said, “I will be paying my first visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.”

Addis Ababa is also the headquarters of the African Union. PM Modi wrote, “In 2023, during India’s G20 presidency, the African Union was inducted as a permanent member of the G20. In Addis Ababa, I will have detailed discussions with His Excellency Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali and will also have the opportunity to meet the Indian diaspora living there.”

The Prime Minister will also address a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament. He further said, “I look forward to sharing my views on India’s journey as the ‘Mother of Democracy’ and the importance of the India-Ethiopia partnership in the Global South.”

The Foreign Ministry said the visit to Ethiopia will reaffirm the two countries’ shared commitment to deepen their friendship and bilateral cooperation as partners in the global south.

On the last leg of his tour, Prime Minister Modi will visit Oman from December 17 to 18 at the invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. This will be his second visit to Oman.

The Prime Minister said, “In Muscat, I look forward to my discussions with His Majesty the Sultan of Oman, and to moving forward towards strengthening our strategic partnership as well as our strong commercial and economic ties. I will also address a gathering of Indian expatriates living in Oman, who have made invaluable contributions to the development of the country and strengthening our partnership.”

The Ministry of External Affairs said India and Oman share a comprehensive strategic partnership based on age-old friendship, trade ties and strong people-to-people ties. The visit is being organized to commemorate 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and follows the state visit of the Sultan of Oman to India in December 2023.

Both sides are expected to comprehensively review cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, defence, security, technology, agriculture and culture, as well as exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
