Chandigarh. With the aim of providing a permanent solution to the problem of traffic jams and waterlogging in Gurugram city, Haryana’s Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh conducted a comprehensive inspection of various parts of the city on Monday. During this, senior officials of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL), Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG), Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP) and HSIIDC were present with him. Starting the inspection from Hero Honda Chowk, the Cabinet Minister reviewed the repair works of the flyover, preparations before construction of metro and traffic management. He instructed the officials that before starting any construction work, vehicle diversion and detailed mobility plan should be prepared, so that there is minimum inconvenience to the general public and the traffic remains smooth. After this, Rao Narbir Singh inspected the road from Umang Bhardwaj Chowk to Gadauli village. He directed the officials of GMDA, Municipal Corporation and HSIIDC to hold a joint meeting to renovate, widen the road and ensure effective drainage system. Rao clarified that the work of removing encroachments should be completed before road construction, so that no obstructions arise in future.
While inspecting the Badshahpur drain in village Gadauli, the Cabinet Minister gave instructions to make the drain concrete and ensure its regular cleaning. He gave strict instructions to the officials of Haryana State Pollution Control Board that polluted water of any industrial unit should not be released into the drain and regular monitoring should be done in this regard.
To further ease the traffic system in the city, the Cabinet Minister inspected the traffic system at Krishna Chowk, near Greenwood School in Sector-9, before Bajgheda flyover in Sector-7 and 9 Chowk, Palam Vihar. He instructed the concerned departments to coordinate with the police department and construct slip roads at major intersections. Rao said that it is extremely important to give priority to such arrangements keeping in mind the future traffic needs of a rapidly developing city like Gurugram.
The Cabinet Minister also inspected the proposed metro route in Sector-10 and took detailed information from the officials about the encroachments present on the route, shifting plans of underground and overhead facilities and technical preparations related to the construction. He directed that it should be ensured that there is minimal impact on traffic and civic amenities during the Metro project.
While inspecting the road in front of Tau Devi Lal Park located in Sector-22, Industries Minister Rao Narbir Singh instructed the GMDA and GMRL officials that before starting the metro construction or drain widening work, an alternative route with sufficient width should be ensured for traffic movement. He also took stock of the existing facilities of Tau Devi Lal Park and gave instructions to use CSR funds for beautification of the park, increasing greenery and expanding civic facilities.
In the last phase of the tour, the Cabinet Minister inspected the ongoing drain construction work in front of the Air Force Station. He instructed the officials to pay special attention to the quality, timeliness and safety standards in the construction work and said that no essential services should be disrupted during the work.
Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh said that the Haryana government under the leadership of Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini is committed to developing Gurugram as a well-organized, accessible and citizen-friendly city. He said that permanent solution to problems like traffic jams and waterlogging is one of the top priorities of the government, for which all departments will have to work in a planned and time bound manner with mutual coordination. There will be no compromise on the quality of development works and the main objective of the government is to provide relief to the common people by effectively implementing each project on the ground.
