Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has announced an assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the family of a migrant laborer from the state who was allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of theft in Kerala. Officials gave this information on Tuesday.
SAI has urged the Kerala government to ensure strict legal action against all those involved in this heinous crime, so that such inhuman incidents do not happen again in future.
Ramnarayan Baghel (31), a resident of Karahi village in Hassaud tehsil of Shakti district of the state, was brutally beaten on the evening of December 17, allegedly for his involvement in theft, at Kizhakeattapallam village near Walayar in Palakkad district of Kerala.
According to local police, after the incident the injured Baghel was taken to Palakkad District Government Hospital, where he later died.
Describing the incident as unfortunate and inhuman, Sai said in a post on social media platform And arrangements have been made to bring Ramnarayan ji’s mortal remains to his home village with respect to Chhattisgarh tomorrow (Tuesday).
Sai wrote, “I request the Kerala government to ensure that strictest legal action is taken against all the culprits involved in this heinous crime, so that such incidents are not repeated in future. The Chhattisgarh government stands strongly with the victim’s family.”
According to Kerala Police, five people have been arrested so far for beating Ramnarayan to death on suspicion of theft.
