New Delhi, December 28 (IANS). Joint pain becomes unbearable for many people in winter. Due to cold, the problem of osteoarthritis increases, making it difficult to even walk. In such a situation, these problems can be overcome by changing the routine.

The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has suggested some simple measures, which can provide relief from this pain by making small changes in diet and daily routine, include simple and nutritious things in the diet which can be easily digested. Kulthi (horse gram) is very beneficial for joints. Ginger (Shunthi) reduces swelling. Among fruits, eat sweet fruits like pomegranate and apple, which nourish the body.

Give adequate rest to joints in winter. Do light and slow exercise regularly, such as walking or yoga. Maintain correct posture and maintain flexibility of joints. This strengthens the muscles and reduces pain.

At the same time, avoid excessive hard work or heavy work. Stop staying awake late at night. Don’t go hiking. Do not suppress natural urges (such as urination and defecation). These habits increase Vata dosha, which is the main cause of joint pain.

Joint pain increases in winter, so it is important to adopt right habits. First of all, give complete rest to the joints – do not put too much stress. But do not remain completely in bed. Do light exercise daily, like walking in the morning sunlight or practice simple yoga asanas like Tadasana, Virabhadrasana slowly. This strengthens the muscles, maintains flexibility of joints and reduces pain. Maintain correct posture while sitting, standing or walking – back should be straight, shoulders should be in relaxed posture.

On the other hand, avoid certain things. Do not do heavy lifting or strenuous work. Stop staying awake late at night, sleep on time. Avoid hiking. Never stop natural needs like urination or defecation. These habits increase Vata dosha, which becomes the main cause of joint pain in winter. By making these small changes you can overcome problems like arthritis in winter.

Stiffness of the body increases in winter, but with these small changes, arthritis can be controlled. These remedies are natural and safe. If the pain is severe, consult a doctor.
