Gold prices are showing an upward trend in the domestic futures market on Monday, January 5. Gold futures contracts expiring on February 5, 2026, opened at ₹1,36,300 (per 10 grams) on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). On the last trading day, gold on MCX had closed at ₹ 1,35,761.
At 10:10 am on January 5, the gold contract expiring on February 5 was trading at ₹1,37,198 on MCX, showing an increase of about ₹1500 from the previous day’s closing price. MCX gold touched a high of ₹1,38,200 in early trade.

Along with gold, the price of another precious metal silver is also showing a significant increase on Monday’s trading day. Silver futures contracts expiring on March 5, 2026, were trading at ₹2,42,685 (per kg) on MCX, showing a rise of nearly ₹6400 from the previous day’s closing price. MCX Silver touched a high of ₹2,49,900 in early trade. There has been a lot of fluctuation in the prices of silver for the last few days.
