Guwahati . Amid allegations by the opposition of deletion of names from the voter list during the ongoing voter list revision in Assam, the BJP on Friday hit out at Raiser Dal president Akhil Gogoi, accusing him of misleading the public with fabricated stories. BJP leader Kamal Kumar Medhi rejected Gogoi’s allegations as ‘fabricated stories’ and alleged that he has been doing such acts for almost two decades. Medhi claimed that some people may have been initially influenced by Gogoi’s words, but time has repeatedly proved them wrong. He said that most of the allegations made by Akhil Gogoi in the last 20 years have proved to be baseless and a story fabricated for his own benefit. The leader of the Riser party has become in the habit of fabricating stories and presenting them to the public again and again.
The BJP leader taunted and said that Gogoi first creates fabricated stories in his mind and then narrates them in front of people and media. Although some people may believe fiction to be true for a moment, eventually people realize that these are nothing but fabricated stories.
Medhi claimed that because of this repeated pattern, the public no longer takes Gogoi’s statements seriously. He further said that today, many people consider such statements only as a source of entertainment. If there was any competition in storytelling, he would have easily achieved the top position.
Referring to the recent allegations of deletion of names from the voter list, Medhi said that these claims are being made without any concrete evidence or proof. He alleged that the opposition, including the Congress, accepted Gogai’s statements as true without knowing their truth.
Describing the opposition as confused and directionless, Medhi said that it has failed to raise any credible political issue. He stressed that the people of Assam trust the BJP government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He also claimed that the local community and Indian citizens feel safe under the leadership of the party.
He further alleged that the opposition parties are now mainly pursuing appeasement politics with the aim of consolidating Mian Muslim votes in particular, but the people of Assam are capable of understanding the truth.
