A case of dowry and harassment has been registered against Gulshan, who educated his wife and made her a sub-inspector in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. Gulshan has appealed to Hapur Superintendent of Police Kunwar Gyanendra Singh for a proper investigation. On November 13, 2025, his wife Sub-Inspector Payal Rani had filed a case against her husband Gulshan and six members of his family at Hapur city police station.
Payal Rani, a resident of Ganeshpura Mohalla of Hapur and posted in Bareilly district, complained to the Hapur Superintendent of Police on November 13, 2025 and registered a case at Hapur City Police Station. Payal Rani alleges that she was married to Gulshan, a resident of Putha Hussainpur village of Pilkhuwa police station area, on December 2, 2022. At the time of marriage, her parents had given a substantial dowry, but her in-laws were not happy. She alleges that soon after the marriage, her husband Gulshan, in-laws and other relatives started demanding more dowry. Payal Rani said in her complaint that her in-laws were demanding ₹10 lakh cash and a car. When these demands were not met, the harassment increased. She alleged that her in-laws tortured her mentally and physically, beat her badly and even threatened to kill her by throwing acid. The threats were so serious that Payal Rani feared for her life.
On the orders of Police Superintendent Kunwar Gyanendra Singh, Sadar police station, based on the complaint of Payal Rani, registered a case against her husband Gulshan and six in-laws under dowry harassment, assault, intimidation and related charges.
“I taught my wife”
Meanwhile, her husband Gulshan says, “Payal and I have been in a relationship since 2016. We both studied together. We had a court marriage in 2021. After convincing our families, we got married in 2022 with Hindu rituals, without dowry.” Payal started living in my house. I educated my wife Payal Rani and made her a sub-inspector. I tutored and supported him with my hard-earned money, due to which he got a job. But now Payal Rani has filed a false case against me and my family. Gulshan has met Hapur Police Superintendent Kunwar Gyanendra Singh and appealed for a non-discriminatory and fair investigation. The whole truth will come out only after investigation.
