New Delhi, January 11 (). Amid ongoing protests and heavy tension in Iran, American media have quoted US officials as saying that US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of ordering a new attack against Iran. In this regard, the US President has been briefed about military options.
The ‘New York Times’ quoted US officials as saying that Trump is considering the possibility of ordering an attack on Iran in response to Tehran’s crackdown on protests and riots caused by rising inflation.
Trump was told about several attack options in Tehran, including attacks on non-military targets. However, till now the US President has not taken any decision. Trump has already warned Iran. America supported the protests taking place in Iran. President Trump said that if the Iranian government takes action against the protesters, the military will strike.
US President Trump wrote on the Truth social platform, “Iran is looking for freedom. America is ready to help.”
Tehran accused the US and Israel of fomenting unrest. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on Twitter on Saturday, “Believing that the Islamic Republic of Iran is like other countries, America is also taking the same steps by encouraging some people to create chaos and riots.”
Protests against the Khamenei government over inflation and unemployment have started in Iran from December 28. Due to the fall of the country’s currency, there was a huge jump in the prices of food items and other essential commodities.
Iranian authorities cut internet and phone connections across the country on Thursday to prevent violence. More than 60 hours have passed, but till now neither internet service nor mobile phone connection has resumed.
At the same time, Iran has also issued its warning on America’s threats. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that if the US launches a new attack during the ongoing protests against the government, Iran will attack US military and shipping targets. It seems that Israel is also in danger from this.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said, “If America launches a military attack, the occupied territories and American military and shipping centers will be our real targets.”
