Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that Maoist Central Committee member Ganesh Uike and five other Naxalites were killed in a massive operation conducted in the Kandhamal forests of Odisha.Home Minister Amit Shah himself has given this information by tweeting.
Shah, in a post on ‘X’, called it “an important milestone towards a Naxal-free India”.
In fact, security forces have killed dreaded Naxalite leader and Maoist Ganesh Uike, who had a reward of Rs 1 crore, in an encounter. Ganesh Uike was currently the biggest Naxalite leader of Bastar division. He was a member of the Central Committee of Maoists and had a total reward of more than Rs 1 crore declared on him in different states. Ever since Hidma was killed, the security forces were continuously searching for her, which has now been completed.
A major Naxalite encounter has taken place on the Odisha border in the neighboring state of Chhattisgarh. Security forces have laid siege and killed four Naxalites including two women. Naxalite Ganesh Uike, carrying a reward of Rs 1 crore, is also included among the dead. It is being told that security forces have recovered four bodies. This number may increase after the encounter ends.
According to security sources, the encounter took place in the forest area of Rampa bordering Kandhamal-Ganjam district of Odisha. Based on intelligence input, security forces started search operations in the forests. Meanwhile, there was firing from the Naxalites, in response to which the security forces took charge. After an encounter that lasted for hours, bodies of four Naxalites were recovered from the spot, including two female Naxalites. One of the dead Naxalites has been identified as Ganesh Uike.
There has been an encounter between police and Naxalites in Rampa area adjacent to Ganjam in Kandhamal district of Odisha. Odisha’s Special Force SOG and joint teams of CRPF and BSF killed Central Committee member of Naxalites, Naxal Commander Ganesh Uike.
Let us tell you that Naxalite commander Ganesh Uike was active in Bastar for three decades. During this period many Naxalite incidents took place. Police had announced a reward of Rs 1 crore on Ganesh.
