Maulana Mahmood Madni, president of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, on Friday expressed support for talks between Muslim communities and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and welcomed the recent comments made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on sensitive religious issues.

In an interview with ANI, an Islamic scholar said that his organization has already passed a resolution in favor of participation, and emphasized that although there are “differences”, efforts must be made to reduce them.

Madani told ANI, “There are many but but there are … My organization has passed a resolution that there should be talks. There are differences, but we need to reduce them … We will support all the efforts of the conversation. Recently the RSS chief had given a statement on Gyanvapi and Mathura Kashi. His efforts to reach the Muslim community should be praised and appreciated.

Referring to Bhagwat’s comments on the Gyanvapi Mosque and the Mathura-Kashi dispute, Madni said that such an initiative needs to be recognized. Earlier, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said that Ram temple is the only movement that the Sangh officially supports, although members are allowed to advocate the movements of Kashi and Mathura. He insisted on the permanent presence of Islam in India, urged every Indian to have three children for the balance of demographics, and blamed conversion and illegal migration for imbalance, and advocated employment for citizens.

Madani also criticized the decline in political language and dialogue levels in recent years. He insisted that all political party leaders, including opposition leaders and state leaders, are using unfair and objectionable language.

Maulana Madani also gave credit to the citizen society of the country to thwart the conspiracy of the Pahalgam terror attack and said that if this incident happened in any other country, there would have been a lot of chaos. “First of all, the way those miscreants killed them after asking the names of others – I am less thankful to my fellow countrymen, who I want to share in Hindu and Muslims, they did not want to share. If it was another country, then who knows what kind of chaos.

He said, “The biggest role in thwarting that shameful incident was that of the citizen society of this country. He understood that it is a conspiracy to fight the communities living in this country and thwarted it. This operation was a bigger job than vermilion.”

On April 22, 26 tourists including 25 Indian citizens and a Nepali citizen were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam by Pakistan -backed militants.
