Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, soon after taking oath at Lok Bhawan on Wednesday, said Manipur will contribute significantly to the goal of ‘Developed India 2047’ and stressed his commitment towards the national vision of a developed India.
Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said, “Manipur will play an important role in the developed India 2047. There are 36 communities in Manipur, and we hope to bring a peaceful environment to the state.”
When Yumnam Khemchand Singh took oath as Chief Minister, his wife Yumnam Joybala Devi said, “It’s a blessing, it’s a blessing, it’s a mixed feeling.”
On the other hand, BJP state president Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi said, “The BJP-led government has been re-formed in the state. Our government will continue to work for the development of the state.”
Today, Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur Legislative Party leader Yumnam Khemchand Singh took oath as the Chief Minister of the state. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla administered the oath of office to him during a ceremony held at Lok Bhawan, Imphal.
Senior MLAs Nemcha Kipgen and Losi Dikho also took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers of Manipur and joined the new state cabinet after the formal withdrawal of President’s rule. BJP workers gathered at the party headquarters in Imphal to celebrate the appointment of Yumnam Khemchand Singh as the BJP legislature party leader and the next Chief Minister of Manipur.
Recently, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) elected Yumnam Khemchand Singh as its legislature party leader at the Manipur Legislature Party meeting at its headquarters in Delhi.
The decision was taken after a meeting held in the national capital this evening, days before the end of President’s rule in the northeastern state.
President’s rule was imposed in Manipur on February 13 last year and the Parliament later extended it for another six months in August last year.
In December, the Union Home Ministry gave another deadline extension to the inquiry commission probing caste violence in Manipur and directed it to submit its report “as soon as possible, but before May 20, 2026”.
The commission has been tasked to investigate the caste violence that broke out in Manipur on May 3, 2023, investigate its causes and assess the response of the authorities.
