The abrogation of the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 opened the way for the development of the region, where India created world-class infrastructure and promoted inclusive governance. At the same time, the areas under illegal occupation of Pakistan across the Line of Control (LOC) are mired in inflation, repression and political inertia.
According to a report on Friday, the development scenario visible in Jammu and Kashmir is a befitting reply to the Pakistani propaganda that has been going on for the last 70 years.
According to the report of Eurasia Review, the difference between the two sides of the LOC is clearly visible. On one hand, Jammu and Kashmir is connecting with the global economy, hosting international events and creating a world-class health system. Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), on the other hand, remains a “political black hole” where even raising questions on its forced accession to Pakistan is considered a punishable offence.
The report said, “The year 2019 was a turning point in the history of India. The abrogation of Article 370 was not just a legal change, but the demolition of the wall that had long isolated the people of Jammu and Kashmir from the heartbeat of Indian progress. Today, the bustling markets of Srinagar and the industrial centers of Jammu show a story of renaissance. In contrast, the situation in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir across the LoC is one of exploitation, growing discontent. And belong to the declining economy.”
The report also emphasized that the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, which saw 63 percent voting, proved to be a decisive test. In this the public clearly chose “the ballot instead of the gun”.
According to the report, “This was not just an election, but a public end to the Pakistan-sponsored narrative that ‘Kashmiris reject Indian democracy.’ “Marginalized communities like women, youth and West Pakistani refugees, who were denied voting rights for 70 years under Article 370, could exercise their franchise as equal citizens for the first time.”
One of the biggest achievements after the removal of Article 370, according to the report, is the sharp decline in local militancy. Citing various reports, it was said that due to funding from across the border, the practice of stone pelting which used to happen on a weekly basis has now come down to zero.
“Although Pakistan-backed ‘hybrid terrorists’ have been making desperate attempts through tragic events like Pahalgam in April 2025, recruitment of local youth into terrorist organizations has reached a historically low level. Kashmiri youth are now picking up laptops, not guns,” the report said.
According to the report, startup incubators in Srinagar and industrial areas of Jammu are now the new battlegrounds of the future. Pakistan’s fundamentalist agenda has been rejected to such an extent that even in remote villages, people are cooperating with the security forces in identifying foreign infiltrators. The result of this peace is that the number of tourists in Jammu and Kashmir will reach more than 2.3 crore in 2024.
