Despite ICC warning, Pakistan has recently decided to boycott the T20 World Cup 2026 match against its arch-rival India. This match is to be played on 15 February at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. A report has claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made three major demands to resolve the ongoing impasse with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Mohsin Naqvi’s 3 conditions before IND vs PAK match
According to a report in NDTV, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) put forward three demands to resolve the dispute in a meeting with ICC officials in Lahore on Sunday. The first condition is increased compensation for Bangladesh. The second condition is a share in the participation fee for Bangladesh despite being out of the T20 World Cup, and the third condition is hosting rights for future ICC events.
Pakistan adopted cheap tactics
Sources also revealed that while some PCB officials are ready to play the match against India in Colombo on February 15, board chairman Mohsin Naqvi is not cooperating in the matter. Mohsin Naqvi is going to meet Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday to seek advice from him once again before taking the final decision.
Pakistan also talked to Bangladesh
Last month, the ICC had removed Bangladesh from the T20 World Cup after they refused to travel to India citing security concerns. Despite assurances from the ICC that there was no credible threat to the Bangladeshi team, the BCB stuck to its stance, leading the ICC to include Scotland in their place. Since then Pakistan has stood with Bangladesh. Apart from the ICC meeting, Naqvi and other PCB officials also held discussions with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief Aminul Islam Bulbul regarding the impasse.
Pakistan avoids upset in T20 World Cup
This came as the ICC raised questions about how the force majeure clause could justify a refusal to play, especially when the PCB tried to put the responsibility on its government. The controversy began when the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), with the support of the country’s interim government, refused to send its national team to India for the T20 World Cup, citing security concerns. Meanwhile, Pakistan narrowly escaped an upset in their opening match of the tournament by defeating Netherlands by three wickets in Colombo on Saturday.
