New Delhi, February 11 (). The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday termed Rahul Gandhi’s comments on the government during the debate on the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha as objectionable and poisonous. The party accused Rahul Gandhi and Congress of hurting the dignity and decorum of the House.
BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, while addressing the press conference at the party headquarters immediately after Rahul Gandhi’s speech, said that the BJP MPs are extremely angry with the sharp comments made on the Prime Minister.
He alleged that the Leader of Opposition launched a campaign of spreading lies and repeatedly made false allegations, which were entirely motivated by his hatred and contempt for PM Modi.
Trivedi said, “Congress is broken and dejected due to continuous election defeats, hence it is doing drama again and again, while in recent times the Speaker of the House has interrupted them several times.”
Speaking on the Union Budget 2026-27, Rahul Gandhi had claimed that the government bowed to the US and signed a trade deal and compromised India’s interests.
Responding to this, Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said that Rahul’s allegation of selling the country is a pack of poisonous lies.
He said, “Congress leader Natwar Singh had to resign during the oil deal with former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. A Congress leader was accused of raising money during the India-US nuclear deal.”
Sudhanshu Trivedi cited examples from the Congress era, when his own foreign ministers had admitted on record to ‘intense pressure from the US’ and India’s nuclear tests scheduled in 1995 were also postponed.
He said, “I want to ask Congress why it always stands against the country and in favor of foreign companies and institutions. Be it Howitzer, AgustaWestland deal or Hindenburg, Congress has always stood with them.”
He said that the Congress MP had been proven wrong by both the former Army Chief and the publisher after fact-checking, yet he continued to raise the issue shamelessly. Rahul Gandhi wanted to speak on Galwan, but kept talking about Doklam again and again. This is what happens when you read a given text.
He further said, “When the Doklam incident happened, neither General Naravane was the Army Chief nor Rajnath Singh was the Defense Minister.”
He also asked Congress why it created controversy over Naravane’s book, when it is a clear violation of the Official Secrets Act and the Army Act. He reminded that the conversation between the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and General Manekshaw during the 1971 war is still confidential.
He said that personal hatred towards the Prime Minister and continuous electoral defeats have left the Leader of the Opposition upset and distressed. For this reason, the Congress Party is busy ignoring the House and weakening the long-standing parliamentary traditions.
