New Delhi, 14 September (). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated the Indian women’s hockey team for winning a silver medal in the Women’s Asia Cup 2025 in Hangzhou, China.
The Prime Minister wrote on X, “Our Indian women’s hockey team has made the country proud by winning a silver medal in the Women’s Asia Cup 2025. Congratulations to them. Their determination and team spirit is amazing. Best wishes to them for the coming time.”
The Indian women’s hockey team won the silver medal by losing 1–4 to hosts China in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2025 held in Hangzhou. Navneet Kaur (1 ‘scored for India. For China, captain Ou Gixia (21 ‘), Lee Hong (40’), Joo Mirong (51 ‘) and Jhong Jiaki (53’) scored goals.
India made a strong start in the final in the first minute in the first minute with a penalty corner. After falling behind a goal, China increased its pace and carried out strong attacks in the first half. In the fourth minute, he got the first penalty corner, which was stopped by Sunlitha Toppo by blocking the goalline and then the goalkeeper Bichu Devi saved the goal. In the third and fourth quarters, the Indian team’s rhythm weakened and China took advantage of it and took three goals and took the match and won the title. With the victory, China got direct entry for the World Cup to be held in Belgium and Netherlands next year.
