Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the prayer meeting organized at Gandhi Smriti on Friday. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Modi said that Bapu’s efforts changed the direction of our freedom movement and left a strong mark on India’s journey, whose impact will continue to be felt for generations.
PM Modi said “I participated in the prayer meeting organized in Gandhi Smriti. Bapu’s life gives hope to millions of people. His efforts changed the direction of our freedom movement and left an indelible mark on India’s journey, the impact of which is still being felt today.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on his 78th death anniversary. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, a prominent figure of India’s independence movement, died of gunshot wounds on January 30, 2026. He was murdered by Nathuram Godse when he was going for his daily prayers.
All religion prayers and Martyr’s Day celebrations were held in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Every year Prime Minister Modi visits Rajghat to pay floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic warning ahead of the program to be organized at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Sthal, Rajghat on January 30 to commemorate Martyr’s Day.
