The proceedings of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned on Thursday afternoon and will now resume at 11:00 am on February 1. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Economic Survey of India for the financial year 2025-26 in Parliament, setting the stage for the Union Budget, which will be presented on Sunday, February 1.
In view of the commencement of the Budget session of Parliament a day earlier, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Economic Survey 2025-26 and a copy of the Statistical Addendum to the Economic Survey 2025-26.
The Economic Survey document, prepared by the Economic Division of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance and produced under the supervision of the Chief Economic Advisor, provides the state of the economy and various indicators for 2025-26 (April-March) as well as an outlook for the next financial year.
Question Hour started in the House, in which the list of questions to be asked and answered by the concerned ministers was given separately. After this, the documents were placed on the table by the members of the Union Council of Ministers.
Sitharaman will present documents related to the Finance Ministry, while Muralidhar Mohol will present documents related to the Civil Aviation Ministry.
During the sixth session of the 18th Lok Sabha, eight bills passed by both the Houses of Parliament and received the assent of the President will be formally laid in the House. These bills will be tabled in the House by the Secretary General of the Lok Sabha.
The 13th report of the Trade Advisory Committee was also presented in the House. As per the agenda, this report will be presented by Kiren Rijiju and Kodikunnil Suresh.
