New Delhi, 15 September (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke about the journey of digital revolution in India in the last decade, which discussed JAM (Jan Paddy-Aadhaar-Mobile) Trinity, UPI, Government-E-Marketplace (GEM) and E-MAM (National Agricultural Market) and others.
While sharing the article of Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh on the social media platform ‘X’, the Prime Minister said, “The decade of Digital India is not only about technology, but also about change and the story has started from here.”
The Union Minister said that in the last decade, there has been a digital revolution in India which is no less than an extraordinary event. The revolution, which began as a series of targeted technical interventions, has now turned into a comprehensive change, which has affected almost every aspect of Indian life such as economy, governance, education, healthcare, commerce, and even the lives of farmers and small entrepreneurs living in remote corners of the country.
The Union Minister wrote in the article, “This journey has not been accidental. The Government of India has conducted it carefully through a combination of adventure policy-making, inter-ministerial cooperation and commitment to inclusive development.”
The article states where the concerned ministries like Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and others have implemented large -scale projects at the ground level. At the same time, NITI Aayog has played the role of an engine in policy making and has worked to bring everyone together.
He further said that with the implementation of JAM Trinity, there was a big turn. With the opening of more than 55 crore bank accounts, millions of people who were out of the financial system earlier got sudden banking and direct profit transfer facilities.
In the article, the Union Minister said that in a small village in Odisha, a single mother was able to get welfare benefits directly in her bank account by escaping the middlemen for the first time. His story is the story of millions of people all over India. This huge financial inclusion movement, supported by the Finance Ministry and capable of access to Aadhaar and mobile, has laid the foundation for the upcoming new era.
The article also states that UPI, developed by the National Payment Corporation of India under the guidance of RBI, revolutionized the manner of transactions of Indians. Started as a new way to send money to a friend, this UPI soon became a lifeline of small businesses, vegetable vendors and gig workers.
Today, India has more than 17 billion UPI transactions every month, and even roadside vegetables accept digital payments through a simple QR code.
