Jaipur. Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil has given instructions to ensure adequate recharge capacity of rain water under Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan 2.0. He also called upon all the districts and urban local bodies of Rajasthan to ensure public participation by giving maximum priority to water saving works.



The Union Jal Shakti Minister was addressing the virtual meeting organized on the progress of Jal Sanchay-Jan Bhagidari-2.0 from New Delhi on Tuesday. He reviewed the work being done under the campaign in the state and gave necessary guidelines. Praising the initiatives taken towards water conservation in the state under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Patil said that river water conservation through public participation in Dungarpur district is an exemplary initiative. Patil said that inspired by the Prime Minister’s resolve to save every drop of rain water in every village and every field, the state government is working with commitment towards making the state water rich. Ramjal Setu Link Project will prove to be a boon for Rajasthan. He said that the work of DPR of Yamuna Water Agreement to bring Yamuna water to Shekhawati region is also in the final stage.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma joined the meeting virtually from Kishangarh Airport. He laid special emphasis on active participation of urban bodies, Panchayati Raj institutions, civil societies and common people in Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan 2.0. He said that under the campaign, all the districts should achieve the targets within the stipulated time by giving required pace to the construction and repair works of rainwater harvesting structures.
Water conservation public participation campaign became a people’s movement
Sharma said that the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan, started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the important objective of water conservation in the country, has become a mass movement. Through this campaign, every drop of rain water is being saved. He said that Rajasthan made important achievements in the campaign. In the first phase (1.0) of the campaign, our state stood third. Barmer and Bhilwara districts performed excellently, which were appreciated and rewarded by the Central Government.
The Chief Minister said that no one can understand the importance of water better than Rajasthan. In this sequence, the state government has tried to improve the ground water level across the state along with giving new life to the traditional water sources by taking initiatives like Karmabhoomi to Matribhoomi and Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign in the direction of water conservation and water harvesting. Through these campaigns, public awareness has been created across the state, which will yield positive results in the future. Sharma said that the state government is going to launch the second phase of Vande Ganga Water Conservation Mass Campaign on Ganga Dussehra (May 25). Which will operate till Environment Day on 5th June.
On this occasion, Dungarpur and Bhilwara District Collectors gave a presentation on the progressing works done under Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Abhiyaan 2.0. In the meeting, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, Additional Chief Secretary Water Resources Abhay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Chief Minister’s Office Akhil Arora, Additional Secretary of National Water Mission, Mission Director Archana Verma, concerned officials of the Union Jal Shakti Ministry along with District Collectors and Municipal Commissioners joined through VC.
