Due to increasing tension between Iran and Israel, air services at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport have been adversely affected. Nearly 100 flights were canceled from Delhi airport on Sunday, including 60 outgoing and 40 incoming flights. More than 350 flights of Indian Airlines have had to be stopped across the country. Passengers flying to Middle East countries have been stranded at the airport for more than 14 hours and are facing a lot of trouble in contacting the airlines.

Aviation companies have announced many new rules and relief keeping in mind the convenience and safety of passengers. Air India has suspended all its flights to Israel, UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia till the night of March 2. Apart from this, passengers have been allowed to reschedule their journey within 7 days without any additional charges. IndiGo has also canceled more than 160 of its flights and provided passengers with the facility of refund or re-scheduling till March 7.

Impact on migrants and Umrah pilgrims from Gulf countries
The biggest impact of this crisis has been on those Indians who live in Gulf countries for work or were going to Mecca and Medina for Umrah in the month of Ramadan. DGCA has advised airlines to avoid 11 airspaces in West Asia. Due to this, flights to Europe and America are now being sent via longer routes, due to which the travel time has increased by up to 90 minutes. The Indian Embassy has issued 24/7 helpline numbers to help Indian citizens stranded in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Officials have advised that passengers should check the status of their flight before leaving home.
