New Delhi, March 4 (). Finnish President Alexander Stubb arrived in India on Wednesday on a three-day visit. His visit is taking place after the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is President Stubb’s first visit to India after assuming office.
On reaching New Delhi, he was welcomed at the airport by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh. He was also given a guard of honor upon the arrival of the President of Finland.
“You are warmly welcomed to India. President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb, has arrived in New Delhi. President Stubb was given a ceremonial welcome and guard of honour. He was received at the airport by Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) posted on social media platform ‘X’.
President Stubb will be in India till March 7 and is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials and key business leaders.
During his visit, he will attend the 11th edition of Raisina Dialogue to be held in New Delhi from 5 to 7 March as the chief guest and deliver the keynote address.
According to the MEA, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Alexander Stubb will hold wide-ranging discussions with the aim of enhancing bilateral cooperation in several sectors. In addition, they will also discuss regional and global issues, including cooperation in multilateral fora. PM Modi will also host a lunch in President Stubb’s honour.
During his stay, President Stubb will also meet President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President CP Radhakrishnan. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar will also meet him to discuss opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations.
After his programs in Delhi, President Stubb will travel to Mumbai, where he will meet Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. In Mumbai he will interact with Indian business leaders and participate in the India-Finland business event. Apart from this, he will address the students of Mumbai University.
MEA informed that India and Finland enjoy friendly and multilateral relations based on shared democratic values. Finland is considered an important partner of India in the European Union and the Nordic region.
The Ministry of External Affairs said, “This visit of President Stubb, which follows the visit of Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo to India for the ‘AI Impact Summit’ in February 2026, shows that the two countries have a shared commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields and deepen people-to-people ties.”
