Ego in human life is a feeling that often causes many obstacles in personal and social life. In modern times, this problem has become a matter of concern for most people. Famous spiritual guru Osho has considered the origin of ego and its root reasons. According to him, ego is not only a sense of ego, but it is the result of our mental structure and life experiences.
Osho believes that the ego originates mainly from insecurity and self-doubt. When a person feels some kind of lack within himself, such as love, acceptance or lack of respect, then he tries to prove himself superior to others. This effort gradually takes the form of ego. In this process, the person gets away from the real assessment of his values and abilities and becomes a victim of a fake self-affidavit.
The second main reason is social comparison and competition according to Osho. In today’s era, people often compare their lives to the lives of others. Due to social media and external influence, a person starts assessing himself at the level of others. This comparison gives rise to both dissatisfaction and ego in a person. Osho explains that when a person is constantly busy in proving himself better than others, then his ego increases and mental peace is interrupted.
Osho also clarified that past experiences and childhood conditions play an important role in the creation of ego. Sometimes excessive criticism or insufficient love of parents creates an emptiness and lack of self-esteem in the child. As he grows up, this deficiency manifests as an ego in his personality. According to Osho, this ego also affects a person’s sensitivity and sympathy to others.
Another reason is the attachment to materiality and external success. In today’s era, a person often runs behind property, position and prestige. Osho believes that when the person determines his value only with external achievements, it nourishes the ego. With this, he not only cuts off from the truth inside himself, but also creates distance in relationships with others.
Osho emphasizes that self-knowledge, meditation and self-sensitivity is necessary to be free from ego. The person has to understand that his real power and value lies in internal balance and understanding compared to the outside world. Regular attention, self-observation and developing sympathy towards others are effective ways to reduce ego.
