Gold prices continue to fall. On the morning of March 6, the price of 24 carat gold in the capital Delhi fell to ₹ 163,020 per 10 grams. In Mumbai this price was ₹162,870 per 10 grams. A day earlier, on March 5, gold prices in the Delhi bullion market had fallen by ₹7,600 or 4.4 per cent to ₹165,200 per 10 grams due to profit booking by investors. Increased demand for safe-haven assets was offset by heavy profit booking at higher levels due to rising geopolitical tensions between the US, Israel and Iran.
On February 28, 2026, Israel and America declared open war against Iran and carried out air strikes. Within hours, Iran retaliated by launching missile and drone attacks on Israel. Iran has also attacked many countries in the Middle East. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed the day before the Israeli strike.
