Amidst the increasing tension in West Asia, a big relief news has come at Mumbai Port. The Liberian flagged ship Shenlong Suezmax, which left Ras Tanura Port in Saudi Arabia, reached Mumbai Port on Wednesday. An Indian captain was commanding this ship and it was loaded with a huge amount of crude oil. In the current war-like situation, this is the first oil consignment for India which has safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz.

What is the complete timeline of this ship reaching Mumbai?
The ship departed from Ras Tanura port in Saudi Arabia on March 1, 2026. It reached Mumbai on 11 March and was brought into the port at 1 pm, after which it was berthed at Jawahar Island at 6 pm. The work of unloading the oil loaded on it has started from March 12. This ship has 1,35,335 metric tons of crude oil, which will take about 36 hours to unload. During this entire journey, the ship’s Captain Sukshant Singh Sandhu and his crew of 29 members took great care.

Maritime security experts say that currently 28 other Indian ships are still stuck due to security reasons.
