What is this online fraud of Rs 900 crore and how did the fraud happen?
This whole matter is about fraud done in the name of part-time job and online investment. People were trapped through social media and messaging apps and initially their trust was won by giving small profits. After this, after investing a huge amount, that money was transferred to fake bank accounts. This racket was being run by Delhi based chartered accountant Ashok Kumar Sharma who has been described as the mastermind of this syndicate.
How was Dubai’s Pyypl app used?
Dubai’s fintech platform Pyypl was used to send the fraudulent money out of India. Through this app, cyber criminals sent money abroad using international debit card, Visa and MasterCard networks and converted it into crypto currency. Home Ministry’s wing I4C was the first to give information about this matter, after which CBI raided 15 locations in Delhi, UP, Rajasthan and Punjab and recovered important documents.
What will be the next action and advice for people
CBI has registered a case in this matter under criminal conspiracy, cheating and money laundering. Jai Ambani has been called for questioning again to clarify some transactions related to shell companies. The administration has appealed to the common people and expatriates not to invest money in any unknown foreign app or investment platform luring high profits.
