New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani over telephone and extended warm Eid greetings to him and the people of Qatar. During this, Prime Minister Modi reiterated the strong relations between the two countries. This conversation between the two leaders took place amid ongoing tensions in West Asia and attacks on regional energy infrastructure. PM Modi wrote on social media platform PM Modi further wrote in the post, “I reiterated that we stand in solidarity with Qatar and strongly condemn the attacks on the region’s energy infrastructure. I expressed my gratitude for the care and support given to the Indian community and expressed hope that peace and stability will prevail in the region. We are in favor of safe and free movement through the Strait of Hormuz.”
This post of PM Modi has come at a time when tension in the Gulf region is at its peak due to the Israel-Iran conflict in West Asia. PM Modi in the conversation reiterated India’s strong solidarity with Qatar and condemned the attacks on regional energy infrastructure, which threaten global energy security. Along with this, PM Modi appreciated the safety of the Indian community and the care taken by Qatar, where a large number of Indian citizens are employed.
PM Modi has similarly spoken to several leaders of West Asia in recent times, including UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman and Crown Prince of Kuwait. In all the talks, emphasis has been laid on safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, restoration of regional peace and dialogue-diplomacy.
