Hyderabad. Telangana government has presented a budget of Rs 3.24 lakh crore for the financial year 2026-27. State Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka presented the third full budget of the Congress government in the Assembly on Friday. The Finance Minister said that the total expenditure proposed in this budget is Rs 3,24,234 crore. In this, the revenue expenditure has been kept at Rs 2,34,406 crore and the capital expenditure has been kept at Rs 47,267 crore. He said that this budget has been prepared keeping in mind the balanced and rapid development of the state. Earlier, a budget of Rs 3.04 lakh crore was presented for the year 2025-26. Talking about the economic situation, Vikramarka said that Telangana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth rate in 2025-26 was 10.7 percent, which is 2.7 percent higher than the national average of 8 percent. The state’s GSDP at current prices has reached Rs 17,82,198 crore. He said that Telangana’s contribution to the country’s GDP is 5 percent, which makes it a strong economic power of the country.
He said that while India’s growth rate has declined from 9.8 percent to 8 percent by 2024-25, Telangana’s growth rate has increased from 10.6 percent to 10.7 percent. It is clear from this that the state is continuously moving forward on the path of progress.
Telangana has also performed better in terms of per capita income. The per capita income of the state in 2025-26 will be Rs 4,18,931, which shows an increase of 10.2 percent. Whereas the national per capita income was Rs 2,19,575 and the growth rate was 6.9 percent. Thus, the per capita income of Telangana is Rs 1,99,356 more than the national average.
Referring to the future goals of the state, the Finance Minister said that the government is aiming to grow the $200 billion economy to $1 trillion by 2034 and to $3 trillion by 2047. For this, special plans are being prepared for different areas.
He said that despite many challenges and financial pressures, Telangana is moving rapidly on the path of development. This budget gives priority to farmers’ welfare, women empowerment, employment for youth, skill-based education, health services, nutrition of students and infrastructure development.
Mallu Bhatti Vikramark also targeted the previous government and said that its excessive borrowing was a huge burden on the state’s economy. To improve this situation, loans worth Rs 25,612 crore were restructured at lower interest rates. Along with this, the loan repayment period was increased from 20 to 39 years.
Due to this debt restructuring, the amount payable between 2025-26 to 2031-32 reduced from Rs 34,058 crore to Rs 11,915 crore. This has provided a relief of Rs 22,142 crore to the cash flow of the state, which is considered an important step for economic stability.
