New Delhi, March 26 (IANS). In today’s time, increasing weight has become a big problem. People go to the gym to stay fit, follow diet plans and take various measures, but despite this many times the weight does not reduce. In such situations, people get disappointed and give up their efforts. Scientific research gives many reasons behind this.
According to scientific research, if a person does not get enough sleep daily, hormones named ghrelin and leptin are affected in his body, which signal hunger and fullness. Lack of sleep increases appetite, causing a person to eat more than necessary. Besides, the stress hormone cortisol also increases in the body, which accelerates the process of fat accumulation. Therefore, scientists recommend that every person should take at least 7 to 8 hours of good sleep.
The second major reason is lack of water in the body. Many people drink very little water throughout the day, which has a direct impact on their metabolism. According to scientific research, drinking enough water slightly increases the body’s ability to burn calories and also controls appetite. Apart from this, water helps in removing toxic elements from the body and improves digestion. If water intake is low, the body becomes lethargic and the weight loss process may slow down.
The third reason is mental stress. Today stress has become a common problem, but very few people know that it is directly related to weight. When a person is under a lot of stress, the level of cortisol hormone increases in the body. This hormone deposits fat around the stomach. Due to stress, people start eating more emotionally, which is called emotional eating in medical language. In such a situation, it is very important to reduce stress through meditation, yoga or favorite activity.
The fourth reason is lack of balanced nutrition. Many times, in order to lose weight, people start eating very little or ignore essential nutrients, which is wrong. The body needs the right amount of protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Protein strengthens muscles and controls appetite, while fiber improves digestion and keeps you full for longer. If there is a lack of these nutrients in the diet, the body starts saving energy and it becomes difficult to lose weight.
Lack of physical activity is also a big reason. Weight loss is not only achieved by controlling diet, but keeping the body active is also equally important. According to research, people who do physical activity. Their metabolism is better and they are able to burn more calories. At least 30 minutes of exercise daily like brisk walking, yoga or cycling can prove to be very helpful in weight loss.
