Ahmedabad, April 14 (IANS). Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi on Tuesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party’s unopposed victory on over 300 seats in the local body elections reflects the weak position of the opposition parties in the state. He said this while addressing election programs in different parts of Ahmedabad.
Harsh Sanghvi visited the ward offices of Bapunagar and Sardarnagar in Ahmedabad and later addressed the workers and local people at the ‘Vikas Sankalp Sabha’ held at India Colony Ward Office and Saijpur-Bogha.
He said, “BJP’s unopposed victory on more than 300 seats has made it clear what is the position of Congress and other parties in Gujarat. The public has unwavering faith only in ‘Kamal’.
Referring to recent political statements, he alleged that opposition leaders have insulted Gujaratis and appealed to voters to respond to this through voting.
He said, “People will not forgive those who tamper with the identity of Gujarat. The leaders of Congress, which has lost more than 99 elections under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, have once again insulted Gujarat and Gujaratis.
He further said, “What is the fault of those Gujaratis who work hard day and night to earn their living and consider the entire country as their family? Why are Gujarat Congress leaders silent on this insult?”
Sanghvi appealed to the voters to give a befitting reply to those who hurt the identity of Gujarat in the elections.
Comparing the present government with the Congress rule, he said that earlier there used to be an atmosphere of curfew and anarchy in Ahmedabad, which has now been transformed into good governance by the BJP government.
He said, “Today daughters can play Garba safely till late night, which is a contribution of the BJP government.”
He referred to a recent event organized on the occasion of BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, which was attended by President Draupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
He said, “For the first time in the history of the country, Scheduled Caste and Tribe leaders dined with the President and the Chief Minister at Lok Bhawan.”
Sanghvi also said that BJP workers are available 24 hours to serve the public, while the offices of opposition parties are lying vacant.
Local party leaders, public representatives, officials and workers were also present in this program.
