Seoul, April 19 (IANS). South Korean President Lee Jae Myung left for India on Sunday. During the two-nation tour, the President of South Korea will also visit Vietnam for summit talks after India. This trip can focus on stabilizing the supply chain amid the uncertainties in the global energy market arising from the war in the Middle East.

Lee will reach New Delhi today and will hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. According to Yonhap News Agency, this will be their third face-to-face meeting after talks held during the G7 and G20 summits last year.

National Security Advisor Wai Sung-lak said on Thursday that the summit is expected to focus on increasing economic cooperation in areas such as shipbuilding, maritime industry, artificial intelligence and defense, as well as coordinating on energy supply chain uncertainties related to the situation in the Middle East.

He may also attend a business forum to support the operations of Korean companies in India and explore new opportunities. India is an important production hub and major consumer market for Korean electronics and automakers.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung will pay an official visit to Hanoi (Vietnam) on Tuesday and will hold talks with Vietnamese President and Communist Party General Secretary To Lam on Wednesday. In this conversation, cooperation on energy supply chain and essential minerals is expected to be on the top of the agenda.

President Lee will pay an official visit to Vietnam for the first time. Earlier this month To Lam was elected President of Vietnam. This will be the first visit by a foreign head of state after the formation of the new government.

The next day, Lee will meet with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Manh and attend a business forum to discuss ways to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the visit, Lee will seek to strengthen strategic cooperation with fast-growing economies and expand South Korea’s diplomatic reach.
