New Delhi, April 23 (IANS). NASSCOM, one of the apex bodies of the IT industry, on Thursday appointed Srikanth Velamakanni as its chairperson.
He succeeds SAP Labs India MD Sindhu Gangadharan, whose tenure as chairman ends in April 2026.
Working closely with NASSCOM President Rajesh Nambiar and the Executive Council, Velamakanni will lead the industry agenda through a set of interconnected priorities that reflect the direction of the global technology landscape.
“Velmakanni brings to this role a rare combination of entrepreneurial spirit and deep understanding of AI. Under his leadership, we will continue to position the technology industry as the world’s most trusted AI-based transformation partner,” Nambiar said in a statement.
Velmakanni assumes charge after serving for more than six years as Vice Chairman and Executive Council Member of NASSCOM.
As a co-founder of one of India’s earliest and leading AI-focused enterprises, he brings his deep expertise in enterprise AI, analytics, responsible technology and global go-to-market at a pivotal juncture for the industry.
His focus will be on accelerating the transformation of services with AI, while promoting product innovation and agentic AI to establish India as a leading source of autonomous, multiagent systems and vertical AI products for global markets.
“Advances in AI are opening up unprecedented opportunities for enterprises, big and small, to redefine their businesses. India will have a key role to play in this AI-led transformation. In the coming year, our focus will be on accelerating the next cycle of AI-driven growth in services and products and preparing our employees to lead with AI,” Velamakanni said.
Gangadharan said, “Stepping into this era of AI with extraordinary ambition, momentum and a deep sense of responsibility, I am confident that Srikanth will take this agenda to the next phase of its impact, and I wish him every success in this journey.”
According to the official statement, the NASSCOM Executive Council has also elected Kishore Patil, Co-Founder, CEO and Managing Director of KPIT, as the new Vice President.
