Itanagar, April 26 (). Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General KT Parnaik (Retd) on Sunday paid tribute to the invaluable contribution of former military personnel and emphasized their indelible role in safeguarding the sovereignty and unity of the country while honoring the supreme sacrifices made by the soldiers in the service of the nation.
Addressing a huge rally of ex-servicemen, the Governor also spoke on pension related issues, welfare schemes and appreciated the full cooperation of the civil administration in successfully conducting the rally.
Defense spokesperson Lt Col Atul Sreedharan said the Indian Army organized a massive ex-servicemen rally titled ‘Strengthening Connect with Ex-Servicemen’ in Likabali, Arunachal Pradesh.
The rally was organized by the Spearhead Division of the Spear Corps in close coordination with the state and district administrations of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
He said that the event saw a huge participation of more than 1,500 ex-servicemen, brave women, serving soldiers, their families and dependents, which reflects the strong bond between the armed forces and their ex-servicemen community.
According to Lt Col Sreedharan, the main objective of the rally was to reach out to the ex-servicemen and resolve pension distribution irregularities, land and legal matters and other major problems faced by the ex-servicemen and their families.
Representatives from District Sainik Welfare Offices of Rajya Sainik Board Itanagar, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur, Principal Controller of Defense Accounts, Guwahati, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Records Offices as well as officials from State and District Administration, Government Agencies and various banks were present at the venue and actively assisted in resolving the grievances of the Ex-Servicemen and provided necessary guidance and support.
The ex-servicemen were also made aware of the rehabilitation schemes, second career opportunities and re-employment opportunities facilitated by the Army Welfare Placement Organisation.
A comprehensive medical camp was organized to cater to the health needs of the attendees.
Defense spokesperson said that this rally proved to be an important initiative in addressing the everyday challenges faced by ex-servicemen and brave women.
It provided a platform for direct interaction with officials and strengthened the commitment of the Army and civil administration towards the welfare of the ex-servicemen community.
