Hyderabad, May 2 (IANS). A 50-day countdown program was organized on the occasion of 12th International Yoga Day in Kanha village of Rangareddy district of Telangana on Saturday. In this, Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav and Heartfulness President Kamlesh D. Patel participated.
Through the program, a message was given to make the countrymen aware and motivated for the International Yoga Day celebrated on 21st June. The major highlight of the program was the group performance of Bhujangasana, in which the participants practiced in a coordinated manner and attempted to set a historic record in the Asia Book of Records.
Union Minister Mr. Kishan Reddy welcomed all the attendees and said, “Welcome all of you to this wonderful 50-day countdown event organized in this wonderful ‘Kanha Shanti Vanam’ to commemorate the International Day of Yoga which we celebrate every year on 21st June.
He said, “The Government of India is raising awareness and enthusiasm across the country through 100-day, 50-day and 25-day countdown programs before the International Yoga Day (June 21). He said that this initiative is organized every year under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the same sequence, today we are conducting this program. By organizing such programs, we are motivating and preparing the people of the country for June 21.
Yes. Kishan Reddy said that the objective of these programs is to establish Indian culture, lifestyle and ancient and great tradition like Yoga as a mass movement at the global level. He said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are striving every day to present the soul of India, Indian culture, lifestyle and this ancient and wonderful knowledge of India even more powerfully before the world in the form of a great people’s movement.”
With the beginning of the 50-day countdown programme, Yoga Mahotsav 2026 is expected to further accelerate the preparations and further reinforce the message of the importance of Yoga for preventive healthcare, mental health and holistic lifestyle, in line with the Government’s vision of building a healthy and strong India.
