Srinagar, May 3 (IANS). A big rally was organized in Srinagar on Sunday to spread awareness against drugs. The awareness program will run for 100 days. During this time, members of the organizing committee will go door-to-door to spread the message against drugs. A large number of local citizens were present during the rally. It included men and women of every age group.
A local woman told IANS that you can see that people and children from all sections of the society have gathered here with enthusiasm. We want to spread awareness in the society against drugs. We want to tell that one has to stay away from drugs. We especially want to give this message to children and youth. I think we will succeed in our objective.
He said, “You know that usually such a rally does not happen. This is the first time that such a large scale rally against drugs has taken place in the region. We all have to eliminate drugs from the society by living together.”
Speaking to IANS, a local man said that we have been working against drugs for the last many years. This rally is very important. A large number of people have come. Seeing such a large scale rally, I feel it will have an impact on people. People would like to know the purpose of this rally. We have been successful in delivering the message and spreading awareness against drugs in the homes of a large number of people who have come, we have to deliver the message to those who have not come.
He said that Kashmir has come out of many problems, but this rally is very important against the efforts being made to snatch our youth from us under the guise of drugs. Along with the administration, the parents of the children also have an important role in making the objective successful. The administration or any organization cannot organize such programs and rallies every day, but parents can always keep an eye on their children.
He said that we also thank LG Manoj Sinha for his cooperation in organizing the program. This program will run for 100 days. It has the full support of Rotary Club.
Another local citizen said that family members have a big responsibility to take care of their children and try to keep them away from drugs.
