New Delhi, May 12 (IANS). NDA leaders have supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to the countrymen to save fuel and avoid buying gold for now. He says that in the times of global economic crisis and rising inflation, there is a need to take the Prime Minister’s appeal seriously.
Bihar government minister Shravan Kumar, while talking to IANS, said that excessive use of diesel and petrol is a major reason for increasing pollution. The Prime Minister has tried to make people aware in the right direction. People should adopt measures to reduce fuel consumption and contribute towards environmental protection.
He also supported the Prime Minister’s appeal regarding the purchase of gold and said that citizens should take it seriously.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Kailash Singh Rajput praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he is one of the great leaders of the world. The Prime Minister’s appeal is completely appropriate and meaningful. Countrymen should show restraint and responsibility in difficult global circumstances.
Telangana BJP state president N. Ramachandra Rao said that the Prime Minister has appealed to the citizens to exercise restraint in expenditure and use of resources. Farmers should reduce excessive dependence on fertilizers, people should limit foreign trips and avoid buying gold unnecessarily so that the country’s foreign exchange reserves can be protected.
He said that the whole world is going through an economic crisis at the moment, but India has maintained better stability than other countries.
Ramachandra Rao also responded to criticism from opposition leaders. He said it was not appropriate for Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Telangana Chief Minister to criticize the Prime Minister’s appeal. He reminded that in the year 2007, the then Finance Minister P. Chidambaram had also appealed to the people not to buy gold amid the fear of economic crisis.
JDU leader Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said that the world’s major rating agencies have expressed the fear of global recession. He said that this could have an impact on employment, jobs and development. He also said that the whole world is facing challenges regarding inflation, hence the people of the country should be mentally prepared for the upcoming circumstances.
JDU MP Rampreet Mandal said, “I wholeheartedly support the appeal made by the Prime Minister to the citizens of the country. As you all know, India’s situation is not isolated. This is a global situation in which problems have arisen due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. Hence the appeal and announcement made by the Prime Minister to the people. I would also like to appeal through you that the citizens of the country should follow this appeal.”
