Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav condoled the demise of his half-brother Prateek Yadav, who passed away on Wednesday morning.
Speaking to reporters outside the Lucknow Civil Hospital, where the body of his dear friend Prateek Yadav is being kept in the mortuary, Akhilesh Yadav said, “I have known him since childhood. He is no longer with us; it is a matter of great sadness. Since childhood, he was very conscious of his health and physical fitness and aspired to make a meaningful contribution in life.”
Akhilesh Yadav said he had met his stepbrother two months ago and advised him to take care of his health and focus on expanding his business. We will proceed as per the law, no matter what the legal provisions say, and we will comply with whatever request the family members make. I met him about two months ago. Even at that time I advised him to take care of his health and focus on pursuing his career.
Prateek Yadav was the son of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife Sadhna Yadav. Despite hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s most prominent political family, he largely stayed away from politics and focused on business and fitness-related ventures in Lucknow.
On Wednesday morning, family members brought him to the hospital, where he was declared dead. The exact cause of his death is not yet known. Further information is expected to be revealed only after the post-mortem. On the death of Prateek Yadav, Chief Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital, Dr. Devesh Chandra Pandey said, “He was brought dead at 5.55 am. Police were informed, after which the body was sent for post-mortem.” Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission Chairperson Babita Singh Chauhan reached the residence of Aparna Yadav, wife of BJP leader Prateek Yadav.
Babita Singh Chauhan said, “This is a very unfortunate incident… May his soul rest in peace. May God give strength to the family to bear this loss.” Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also condoled the untimely demise of Prateek Yadav.
