Major administrative action has been taken in the case of maternal deaths in Kota’s New Medical College Hospital (NMCH). After negligence came to light in the case, 2 doctors and 2 nursing personnel have been suspended with immediate effect. Along with this, notices have been issued to the superintendents of both the hospitals and their answers have been sought.
According to the information, after the death of some women during delivery in the hospital recently, the family members had made allegations of serious negligence. After the incident, the health department and administration started investigating the matter. The preliminary investigation report is said to have revealed many shortcomings in medical care and hospital management.
After this action taken at the administrative level, there has been a stir in the hospital administration. Officials say that the matter is being thoroughly investigated and if any further negligence or violation of rules is confirmed, more strict action can be taken.
The family members had alleged that these tragic incidents happened due to not getting proper treatment and monitoring on time. After the incident, an atmosphere of tension was also seen in the hospital premises.
Senior officials of the Health Department have said that matters like maternal death are taken very seriously and negligence will not be tolerated at any level. Besides, it is also being ensured that such incidents do not happen again in future, for this the arrangements in hospitals are being reviewed.
At present, the investigation of the entire matter is going on and the administration has indicated that further disciplinary action can be taken on the basis of the investigation report.
