Lucknow, Amrit Vichar. On May 16, Vat Savitri Vrat and the birth anniversary of Shani Dev will be celebrated on the Amavasya of Jyeshtha. Astrologer Anand Dubey of Hathi Baba Temple located on Sitapur Road said that women remember Mother Savitri who saved her husband’s life from Yamraj by worshiping the Vat (Banyan) tree.
Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh are believed to reside in the banyan tree. Women circumambulate the tree and tie Raksha Sutra and wish for a happy married life. Dubey told that Shani Dev, son of Surya and Mata Chhaya, was born on the Jyeshtha Amavasya date itself.
This year, due to Amavasya falling on Saturday, its importance has increased even more. For the peace and happiness of Shani Dev, doing proper worship, chanting mantra and doing charity on this day will be very fruitful.
For those people who are under the influence of Shani’s Dhaiya or Sadesati, this day is best for special rituals. On this auspicious date, bathing in holy rivers and donations give eternal fruits. Devotees can avail benefits by worshiping in various Shivalayas and Shani temples including Hathi Baba temple.
