New Delhi, 20 September (IANS). Chewing gum is a time pass for many, while some use it as a mouth freshener. But have you ever thought that chewing chewing gum is right for how long it is right?
Some researchers at the Netherlands ‘University of Gronton’ did an interesting research a few years ago. The team found that chewing gum can be helpful not just changing the taste of the mouth or boredom, but also in the cleaning of the mouth, provided the timing is taken care of, that is, it is chewed for the right time.
In this study, the gums of 5 different brands were chewed for 10 minutes and 30 minutes. It turned out that by chewing for 10 minutes, about 100 million bacteria get out of the mouth! But the shocking thing was that after 30 minutes, its effect started decreasing.
Let us know what happens when you chew chewing gum? So according to scientists, the flow of Sliva or saliva increases which joins the gum and absorbs bacteria and dead cells. Initially, when gum is the most active, it draws bacteria like a sponge, but as time passes, the strength to catch the bacteria of gum starts decreasing. So chewing for 10 minutes is good for the mouth.
Another study is the ‘American Dental Association’. Which says that sugar free chewing gum should be chewed for 20 minutes and it helps to keep the teeth clean. But it is often seen that the taste or ‘bus like this’ do not take care of the time to chew and chew for a long time. This can emphasize the jaws, especially if TMJ means ‘Joint’ problem.
The luboluab of both studies is that the right time to chew any chewing gum is between 10 and 20 minutes. This causes mouth hygiene, saliva flow and breath freshness. And if this ban of time is sidelined, then it is certain that it will be ineffective and in some cases it can also damage the jaws.
